Itinerary Description

Ladakh Valley Day By Day

This is Ladakh without the rush — a loop from Leh over the great Khardung La into the cold dunes of Nubra, on to the turquoise of Pangong, and deep into Changthang to Hanle, under the cleanest night sky in India. We've sequenced every day so you climb gently and sleep well — the way altitude should be met.

Days Plan

Day01Arrive in Leh — And Slow Right Down

Arrive at Leh Airport and receive a traditional Ladakhi welcome. Spend the day acclimatising to the high altitude, enjoying a relaxed stroll through Leh Market and witnessing a peaceful sunset at Shanti Stupa. Overnight stay in Leh

Day02Leh Sightseeing — Sangam, Magnetic Hill & Hall of Fame

Explore the iconic attractions around Leh including the Sangam (confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers), Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and the Hall of Fame Museum. End the day with a beautiful sunset view from Shanti Stupa before returning to Leh for an overnight stay.

Day03Over Khardung La into Nubra Valley

Cross the legendary Khardung La Pass, one of the world's highest motorable roads, and descend into the breathtaking Nubra Valley. Visit the historic Diskit Monastery, admire the towering Maitreya Buddha statue, explore the cold desert of Hunder, and enjoy a unique ride on the famous double-humped Bactrian camels. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

Day04Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shyok Route

Embark on one of Ladakh's most scenic drives through the dramatic Shyok Valley. Follow the winding river route to the stunning Pangong Lake, renowned for its ever-changing shades of blue. Witness a spectacular sunset over the lake and spend a memorable night amidst the serene Himalayan landscape. Overnight stay near Pangong Lake.

Day05Pangong to Hanle, edge of the map

Deep into Changthang — nomad country, where kiang and pashmina goats outnumber people. Hanle is one of the remotest villages you can visit in India: a 1690s monastery on the hill, a great observatory, and India's first Dark Sky Reserve. After dark, the Milky Way throws a shadow.

Day06The long road home to Leh

A big, beautiful driving day along the Indus, with villages and gompas to break it up — and a quiet half-hour of guided meditation in an empty monastery hall, the trip's calm full stop. Back in Leh by evening, with a free evening for pashmina and cafés.

Day07Julley — until the next valley

An unhurried breakfast, then a private transfer to the airport for your flight home. You leave with a khata around your neck, a head full of valleys, and a standing invitation to come back slowly.
